Grant founded the Internet Search Company GlobalBrain.net in 1998 (acquired by NBCi, now operating as S.L.I. Systems) and Social Networking company RealContacts in 2001. He is on the Board of the New Zealand Government's $100 million Venture Investment Fund (VIF) and the Foundation for Research Science and Technology which allocates over $450 million per year. He has a degree in Engineering and a PhD in Ecological Economics.
