Nan Dawkins is co-founder of RedBoots Consulting.
Armed with over 20 years experience in marketing communications, deep
roots in conventional advertising methods, and a track record of solid
online wins, Ms. Dawkins brings a unique combination of experience to
her clients, including The Pew Charitable Trusts, Strategies for the
Global Environment, The American Diabetes Association, CARE, and the Pew
Internet and American Life Project.
Ms. Dawkins began her career at J. Walter Thompson/Washington, working
on the national advertising campaigns of retail and consumer products
accounts such as Burger King and Ford Motor Company. She opened her own
advertising agency in the 1980's, where she created the highly
successful "If you drive an Acura, you'll buy an Acura" television ads.
Ms. Dawkins' interest in politics led her back to graduate school in the
early 90's. After earning a Masters Degree in Public Policy at George
Washington University, she applied her communications experience to the
nonprofit arena where she created one of the first internet advocacy
projects on economic development issues and a virtual community for an
international network of women leaders.
Prior to the launch of RedBoots, Ms. Dawkins spent two years as an
internet strategist at AppNet, where she specialized in online
fundraising and advocacy for clients such as NARAL, Planned Parenthood,
The Trust for Public Land, and The Feminist Majority Foundation. She is
a frequent speaker on the topic of online outreach techniques for
nonprofit organizations.
Ms Dawkins' personally raises money for various nonprofit causes by
competing in endurance sports events each year. In 2003, she completed
the Ironman on behalf of The American Diabetes Association, a RedBoots
client.
