Jamie Low is a Search Engine Marketing Consultant
(SearchEngineMarketing.com) helping businesses develop strategies that get
their websites noticed.
Jamie's work as the in-house Internet Marketing Director for All-Outdoors
California Whitewater Rafting was recently featured in Inc Magazine's 2001
Web Awards: "The Best Small-Business Sites in America". The company's
website was named "all-around champion", receiving Inc's prestigious
"General Excellence" award, placing first in "Customer Service", second for
"Return On Investment" and as a finalist in "Marketing".
Approximately 70% of the rafting company's new business comes from search
engine referrals. In a three-page article entitled "A Web Strategy Runs
Through It", the company reveals that after focusing on the web, their
annual marketing expenses remained static at $150,000, while annual revenues
continued to climb from $1 million to a record $2 million. All-Outdoors' CEO
Gregg Armstrong attributes much of that growth to Jamie's content-rich,
customer-driven approach to search engine marketing.
Jamie first became involved with search engine marketing in 1996, when
All-Outdoors launched their website, AOrafting.com. Operating on a limited
budget, over the next few years he relied on long hours and help from
resources such as Danny Sullivan's SearchEngineWatch.com, the I-Search
Discussion List, and has attended Search Engine Strategies in San Francisco
for the past two years. Jamie recieved his BA in Public Speaking from CSU,
Chico, and has worked as a professional river guide throughout the US,
Central and South America. In the Inc Magazine article, Jamie is described
as "a river guide who had no other ambition than to spend every day on the
river". Jamie still enjoys his days on the river whenever he can get them.
