Danny Sullivan has been covering search engines since late 1995, when he
undertook a study of how they indexed web pages. The results were published
online as "A Webmaster's Guide To Search Engines," a pioneering effort to
answer the many questions site designers and Internet publicists had about
search engines.
Continuing interest in search engines caused Sullivan to expand the guide
into SearchEngineWatch.com, to serve both web marketers and those who wish
to search better. The site is now widely recognized as an authoritative
place to find the straight scoop on dealing with search engines.
Sullivan continues to maintain SearchEngineWatch.com for internet.com, which
acquired the site in 1997. He also speaks and consults on issues involving
search engines.
Previously, Sullivan oversaw a web site design firm in Southern California.
In his pre-web life, he was a newspaper reporter, having worked for the
Orange County Register and the Los Angeles Times.
