Chris Tolles is the senior marketing manager for Netscape's Open
Directory Project - a community developed Web directory that powers
numerous portal sites including Netscape, AOL, Lycos, Hotbot, AltaVista,
AT&T; WorldNet and others. The Open Directory Project came out of
NewHoo, which was acquired by Netscape in 1998, where Chris was
co-founder and Vice President of marketing. Prior to NewHoo, Chris was
at Sun Microsystems, most recently heading up marketing for the security
products division. Chris graduated from UCSD with degrees in Computer
Science and Economics, and
was the recipient of the Michael J. Addison award for his honors thesis
on the structures of the electronic information industry.
