ClickZ's Kate Kaye Analyzes Clinton Campaign Online Spending; Slated to Speak at Personal Democracy Forum '08
New York, NY - June 23, 2008 More people are consuming political news—and making campaign contributions—online than ever before. ClickZ senior news editor Kate Kaye is at the forefront of research on this trend, publishing engaging articles and participating in influential forums on political advertising. Her insightful new article in the Campaign '08 section of ClickZ.com, Clinton Spent Far Less Online than Obama, highlights the chasm in online ad spending between the Clinton and Obama campaigns and theorizes on its impact on the outcome of the Democratic race.
Kaye is among the media experts who will participate in the 2008 Personal Democracy Forum at the Frederick P. Rose Hall in New York, N.Y., on Tuesday, June 24, 2008, from 3:45 to 5:00 p.m. Personal Democracy Forum (PdF) has become the seminal gathering place for the growing community of people who understand the effects of how technology and the Internet are changing politics, and want to make sure they stay on top of what's coming
The session in which Kaye will participate, entitled New Ways of Making (and Spending) Money Online, illuminates how political content creators should be spending paid media dollars. This panel will explore issues, such as:
"We know blogs and social media are having an impact on the political landscape, perhaps more so this election than any other," said Kaye. "However, because such a small amount of money is being spent on online advertising by political campaigns compared to television, it gets far less attention. We shouldn't deny the potential effects of online advertising, including paid search engine advertising on this year's election."
Kaye regularly covers paid online advertising, e-mail, and other Web components of the 2008 presidential campaigns in ClickZ's Campaign '08 section. In reporting on interactive advertising for ClickZ and other publications during the past eight years, she has paid special attention to online political advertising. In addition to reporting for various ad industry publications, Kate served as associate editor and contributing writer for Personal Democracy Forum in 2005, where she covered the emerging technology sector serving political campaigns and issue advocacy groups.
