Microsoft's Berkowitz Shares Insights with Search Industry at Search Engine Strategies (SES) New York 2007
Surprise Appearance by "Ms. Dewey" Enlivens Address
New York, NY - April 11, 2007 - Attentive search marketers were treated to a peek into Microsoft's plans in the search arena earlier today as Steve Berkowitz, Senior Vice President of Microsoft's Online Services Group, addressed the crowd at the Search Engine Strategies (SES) Conference & Expo 2007.
In his keynote address, web search veteran Berkowitz called Microsoft a "fascinating" company and noted that one of his most important goals is to "unlock the potential" of the company's vast stores of technology, marketing, product and lab talent.
Renowned for his role in the launch of Microsoft Live Search, Berkowitz noted his priorities of "getting the basics right" when it comes to search, building "innovation around the core" and maintaining a focus on the customer.
Illustrating the theme of customer experiences, the session featured a live surprise appearance onstage from "Ms. Dewey" of Microsoft's experimental search engine http://msdewey.com search site that launched late last year. Berkowitz noted that the Ms. Dewey engine is just one way in which the company is showing "different ways to deliver information to consumers."
The webcast of Berkowitz' keynote is available at www.WebmasterRadio.fm.
