Après plusieurs années passées dans le développement en Afrique de l’Ouest, Alan Boydell change de cap en 2001 et entre chez Adobe. Il s’installe ensuite en France pendant 2 ans pour mener un projet de recherche à l’université du Colorado.

De retour en France, il fonde sa propre société de traduction financière et juridique, avant de rejoindre Google début 2005 comme chargé de l’optimisation du ROI de clients stratégiques dans divers secteurs, dont la presse, le BtoB et la finance. Il participe alors au lancement de Google Analytics après le rachat de la société Urchin par Google. Aujourd’hui il est responsable du produit pour la France.

Il est titulaire d’un M.A. de l’université Heriot-Watt d’Édimbourg et d’un M.A. de l’Université du Colorado à Boulder.
