Gonzalo Alonso

Gonzalo Alonso is Google's General Manager for Spanish-speaking Latin America based in Buenos Aires. In this position, Alonso is responsible for the operation of all the Hispanic markets in Latin America and the United States. From 2005-2007, he served as Google's General Manager in Mexico.

Before joining Google, Gonzalo Alonso was the Sales Director of T1MSN, the biggest Portal in Latin America. Responsible for all revenue and Trade Marketing efforts, he managed a team of over 10 people with the highest online advertising quota in Latin America.

His team increased sales of online advertising by 35% during 2003-2004; increasing T1MSN online sales market share from 18% to 28%. This increment helped the overall online ad market grow almost one third in just one year.

Gonzalo also restructured the Sales Organization to ensure a customer oriented experience that positioned T1MSN as providing the highest possible level of service. This new structure increased sales by 30% in its first year with each Revenue Head delivering an additional 20% in revenue.

Gonzalo has also worked for Mercado Libre as Marketing VP where he was responsible for all marketing activities in Mexico, Brazil, the US Hispanic market, Spain, Colombia and Venezuela and managed a budget of over US$5 million.

He successfully launched operations with advertising and PR campaigns in Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, the US Hispanic market, Spain and Venezuela. All of these launches outperformed expectations driving 60% more business than other local competitors.

Gonzalo has a degree in Communications from the Nuevo Mundo University (UNUM) in Mexico City.

Previo a formar parte de Google, Gonzalo Alonso fue director de Ventas de T1MSN, el portal más grande de América Latina. A cargo del área de Ingresos y Marketing, dirigió un equipo de más de diez personas, alcanzando el nivel más alto de publicidad online en América Latina.

Su equipo incrementó las ventas de publicidad online en 35% durante el periodo 2003-2004, aumentando la participación de mercado de T1MSN en ventas online de 18% a 28%. Este hecho contribuyó a que el mercado de publicidad online creciera cerca de un tercio en sólo un año.

Alonso reestructuró la Organización de Ventas para asegurar una experiencia orientada al cliente, lo que posicionó a T1MSN como el mejor proveedor de servicios. Esta nueva estructura aumentó las ventas en 30% en su primer año con cada Unidad de Ingresos, entregando un 20% adicional en ingresos.

Adicionalmente, Gonzalo Alonso ha trabajado para Mercado Libre como Marketing VP, siendo responsable de todas las actividades de marketing en México, Brasil, el mercado hispano en Estados Unidos, España, Colombia y Venezuela, manejando un presupuesto de más de US$5 millones.

Asimismo, Alonso lanzó con éxito operaciones de publicidad y campañas de RRPP en México, Brasil, Colombia, el mercado hispano en Estados Unidos, España y Venezuela. Todos estos lanzamientos superaron las expectativas, generando 60% más de negocios que otros competidores locales.

Cuenta con un grado en Comunicaciones de la Universidad de Nuevo Mundo (UNUM), en Ciudad de México.
