Scott B. Meyer
President & Chief Executive Officer
About, Inc.
The New York Times Company
Scott B. Meyer was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of About, Inc. in June 2005. In this exciting time of growth and expansion, Scott will continue to cultivate About's strengths in original content development and advertising management, as well as lead the development of About's relationship with parent company, the New York Times Company.
Scott has been an executive with The New York Times Company since 2000, and became Vice President, Strategic Planning for the New England Media Group (NEMG) and the Boston Globe in May 2003. In this role, Scott led product development, market research, investments and partnerships. His focus was on expanding the Group's range of growth opportunities across media platforms, including leading the equity investment in Metro Boston, the leading free daily newspaper in Boston. He also served as a member of the Group's senior management team.
From 2000 until joining NEMG, Scott was a Vice President at New York Times Digital, and the General Manager of the company's flagship website, The New York Times on the Web (www.nytimes.com). During his tenure, the business achieved profitability in the midst of an industry-wide advertising depression and established itself as a leader in the online advertising business.
Before joining The New York Times Company, Scott was with Multex.com (which was acquired by Reuters in 2003), where he was Vice President and General Manager of its business-to-consumer division. Scott was previously a consultant in the New York office of The Boston Consulting Group and worked in investment banking for Merrill Lynch & Co.
Scott holds an A.B. in Public Policy and American Institutions from Brown University, where he was a winner of the Rouse Prize for Economics and was selected as a Taubman Intern. He holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and is a Board Member and former President of the Harvard Business School Club of New York.
In addition to joining the Board of Directors of the Online Publishers Association, Scott is a Big Brother in the Massachusetts Bay Big Brothers program, and is on the Board of Visitors of the Boston Center for the Arts.
